On November 22, 2025, the care information website Kaigo Post Seven published an interview with Hiroshi Yagi, who runs Omutsu Johokyoku (Adult Diaper Information Center Japan).

The article describes how his experience as a physiotherapist supporting patients’ outings and toilet environments, followed by work on a local government diaper supply program at an assistive equipment rental provider, led him to specialize in adult diapers.

He also discussed how basic diaper knowledge and appropriate methods of use are not sufficiently shared in care facilities and home care.

Problems such as layering incontinence pads or selecting products that do not suit the user can be difficult for others to see. In home care particularly, families may be left to cope with these concerns alone.

The interview covered the following topics:

  • Challenges in diaper use in care facilities and at home
  • Why diaper-related difficulties often remain hidden
  • Local government diaper provision and information on correct use
  • The importance of consulting medical providers about the causes of incontinence and considering treatment or improvement
  • Selecting diapers when moving from hospital to life at home
  • Using product information provided by diaper manufacturers
  • The need for an environment in which people can consult healthcare and care professionals

Appropriate diaper use can sometimes expand opportunities for outings and activities.

It is also important to identify the cause of incontinence and work with medical providers when treatment or improvement is possible. We believe this should come before choosing diapers suited to the person’s physical condition and living environment.

Please take a look.
