On June 21, 2024, we welcomed Masahiro Taniguchi (谷口昌宏), director of the Housing and Care Research Institute, for an online seminar on using Hug, an assistive device for standing, moving and toileting.
Hug is a transfer support robot developed by FUJI Corporation. It is used as an assistive product for standing up, transferring between seated positions and maintaining a standing position during toileting and other activities.
Mr. Taniguchi discussed ways to use Hug from a physical therapist’s perspective. Together with participants, we learned about applications suited to users’ physical conditions, including moving to a toilet or portable commode and considerations for preventing equinus foot posture.
Thank you to Mr. Taniguchi for speaking and to everyone who attended.
