On 15 January 2024, Omutsu Johokyoku (Adult Diaper Information Center Japan) welcomed Daiki Nakayama (中山大樹) of Sapporo Keijinkai Rehabilitation Hospital for an online seminar on “Life after Discharge: Perspectives on IADL.”

As an occupational therapist and discharge support therapist, Nakayama supports people with their life after discharge in mind, starting during inpatient rehabilitation.

The seminar introduced perspectives on instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) that are necessary when considering life after discharge.

When considering continence support, we need to look beyond toileting movements to the person’s living environment and daily life as a whole. Through Nakayama’s presentation, participants learned ways to consider life after discharge in concrete terms.

Thank you to Daiki Nakayama and everyone who participated.
