[Special Event] Continence care from the perspective of psychiatric home-visit nursing, with Igami

On January 12, 2023, Omutsu Johokyoku (Adult Diaper Information Center Japan) welcomed psychiatric home-visit nurse Igami (伊神敬人) for a special online event, “Continence Care from the Perspective of Psychiatric Home-Visit Nursing.”

Igami is a nurse working in psychiatric home-visit nursing. Also active as a continence function instructor, Igami contributes articles to specialist nursing journals on urinary care and diaper selection in psychiatric settings.

The event explored continence care that takes account of people’s mental and physical condition and living environment from the perspective of psychiatric home-visit nursing.

In this field, support must consider a variety of factors, including the person’s wishes, living circumstances and medication, as well as physical and continence function. Through the talk, we learned about continence care in psychiatric settings and approaches to choosing diapers.
