On February 15, 2025, Omutsu Johokyoku (Adult Diaper Information Center Japan) hosted a special online event, “Fundamentals of Positioning: Thinking about Daily Life through Posture.”

Our instructor was physical therapist Shoji Jinnai (神内昭次), who works at the Kyoto Welfare Service Association and serves as advisor and Kyoto Branch Head of the Posture and Activity Care Study Group.

We learned about positioning not simply as techniques for changing the direction of the body or placing cushions, but as support for comfortable postures and activities informed by the person’s physical condition and daily movements.

Diaper selection and changing cannot be considered separately from posture and movement. Positioning in bed and the ways the body is supported also relate to the ease of changing diapers and the body’s condition while wearing them.

It was a valuable opportunity to consider posture through the lens of daily life and reflect on support in healthcare and care settings.

Our sincere thanks to Mr. Jinnai and everyone who attended.
