On November 25, 2025, the care information website Kaigo Post Seven published the second part of its interview with Hiroshi Yagi, who runs Omutsu Johokyoku (Adult Diaper Information Center Japan).

Focusing on the concept of “social continence,” he discussed taking part in social life while using adult diapers, using diapers for disaster preparedness and outings, and changing public attitudes toward diapers.

Being able to use a flush toilet is not the only form of toileting independence.

If someone can participate in social life without difficulties while using diapers, keeping their skin clean without inconveniencing others and changing and disposing of products appropriately, this too can be considered a form of social independence in continence care.

Using diapers appropriately requires not only knowing how to select and use products, but also providing places to change them away from home and facilities for disposing of used products.

O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO featured a “Future Diaper Collection” with diapers taking center stage, sharing the possibilities of diapers that people from different generations and with diverse physical characteristics and backgrounds can choose.

We believe that viewing adult diapers as one of the devices anyone can choose according to their age and circumstances, rather than as something exclusively for older people, can help change perceptions.
