On June 24, 2025, alongside O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO at EXPO Hall “Shining Hat” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, we held O-MU-TSU VIRTUAL EXPO in the Virtual Expo’s Skyborne Yumeshima.

Accessibility was one of O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO’s important themes. We prepared a virtual venue so people unable to visit the physical Expo because of physical circumstances, work, where they lived or other reasons could participate.

From 9:00 to 22:00 that day, the virtual Shining Hat on the Island of Gathering served as the O-MU-TSU VIRTUAL EXPO venue.

Two virtual consultation sessions on continence concerns were held there, from 12:00 to 13:00 and from 20:00 to 22:00.

Participants entered as avatars and could ask about diapers and continence care by approaching advisers whose names displayed their areas of expertise, such as “diaper adviser.” Members working in healthcare, care, welfare and related fields served as advisers.

Hiroshi Yagi helped plan and operate O-MU-TSU VIRTUAL EXPO as the then Deputy Representative Director of its organizer, the Japan Welfare and Medical Fashion Association.

Access to necessary information and opportunities for consultation, regardless of whether someone can attend a physical venue, is another aspect of accessibility. The project considered life and social participation beyond wearing diapers.
