On 22 March 2025, we held an online event for healthcare and care professionals on “Beyond Diapers: Options for Fecal Incontinence.”

Diapers are one important option when considering how to manage fecal incontinence.

This session considers the available options from medical, nursing and diaper-related perspectives.

It is a welcome-back event with Katsumi Urata and Raita Yano, both previous speakers at special events hosted by Omutsu Johokyoku (Adult Diaper Information Center Japan).

Katsumi Urata, a Certified Nurse in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing with specified medical procedure training at Tokatsu Clinic Hospital, works with the bowel care support team and on related initiatives. Urata will share perspectives on nursing, skin care and everyday support.

Raita Yano is Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Hiroshima Memorial Hospital. At its bowel function clinic, he treats constipation, fecal incontinence and postoperative bowel dysfunction. He will discuss assessment and options for fecal incontinence from a doctor’s perspective.

Hiroshi Yagi will participate as administrator of Omutsu Johokyoku (Adult Diaper Information Center Japan) and Deputy Representative Director of the Japan Welfare and Medical Fashion Association, contributing a perspective on diapers and pads.
