On June 24, 2025, we held O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO at EXPO Hall “Shining Hat” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

Members of the Healthcare Curator Practice Group, an IBA research forum at Kwansei Gakuin University’s Institute of Business and Accounting, also watched the event from seats reserved for those involved.

At O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO, guests from a range of fields, including Terry Ito and astronaut Norishige Kanai, discussed adult diapers. Models diverse in age, gender, nationality and disability status also took part, expressing new possibilities for adult diapers.

The practice group’s official report introduced O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO as an initiative to transform adult diapers from something used only out of necessity into something people can choose while enjoying colors and designs.

This connection began at the group’s 53rd meeting in July 2024.

Yagi, a member of the group, brought it a proposal titled “Changing Global Assumptions through Welfare, Healthcare and Design: Taking a Diaper Collection to the Expo” and invited Kei Hirabayashi to speak.

The concept introduced at the 2024 meeting became O-MU-TSU WORLD EXPO at the following year’s Osaka-Kansai Expo, allowing those who knew its development to witness the event in person.
